Windsurfing
How to start a fun with windsurfing?
First of all, take lessons in a licensed school. Windsurfing is a very technical sport. Secondly, practice whenever you can! In other words, gain experience. Windsurfing basics are easy to learn, but in order to do it properly, you will need more time. The more time you spend in water, the sooner you will enjoy the possibilities offered by the board, sail, water and wind.
Who created windsurfing and what is this all about?
Windsurfing was invented in 1960 by two Californians, a sailor and a surfer. They decided to place the sail on the board and… this is how the new sport was born. Since then, many things have changed: boards have become wide and stable and sails – light and easy to hold. Windsurfing rules are the same as those of aviation or sailing.
Do I have to be really strong to make sails?
Contrary to a popular belief, windsurfing does not require particular endurance of the upper part of your body. Modern equipment is light and easy to use. Boards are wide and stable, sails are light and flexible. Everything you need is finesse and good lessons with certified instructor and the use of modern equipment.
How long it takes to start practice alone?
An average person can learn windsurfing basics in only two days in our school. What is more, a fit participant is able to sail and turn after an hour of training! We teach people of all age groups (from 4 to 100 years old). We believe that windsurfing is about balance and finesse, not strength.
Can I rent all equipment or do I have to buy it?
We have all equipment for rent: all types and sizes of surfboards, rigs as well as wetsuits and boots.
If you are interested in purchase of your own equipment having completed the training, you will get discounts in our school. If you are interested in the offer, contact us. Participants of our courses get additional discounts!
How important safety in windsurfing is?
Windsurfing is a very safe sport, provided that you follow the basic rules.
Below, we present a list of the most important rules that must be followed in order to ensure maximum safety level:
- Training and practice should take place in beginner-friendly spots
- Avoid storms and gusty winds
- Keep water temperature in mind – do not forget about hypothermia protection suits
- As a beginner, avoid offshore winds
- Avoid water obstructions (poles, rocks or any other obstructions)
- Avoid crowded basins (boats, navigation routes)
Have fun!
